We are moving right along in Kindergarten. Lots of fun stuff happening. In Language we have introduced the new words for the month (do, come, an, he). We are working on opposites and the kids have taken on the challenge to make a class book of opposites. They are so good at coming up with opposites and it is really great to see their writing. Our word family is the 'op' family. We are reading the Dr. Seuss book Hop on Pop. You can help at home by making 'op' words. We do have a poem for the week, however, I have not introduced it yet. It will be...
Easter Bunny
The Easter Bunny's feet
go hop, hop, hop
While his big pink ears
go flop, flop, flop
He is rushing on his way
To bring us eggs on Easter Day
With a hop, flop, hop, flop, hop.
In Math, we are investigating adding and subtracting. We are really focusing on proving our thinking. We are working on making number sentences and using pictures and words to show our thinking. For example, today's question was 'Mrs. Button has 8 pencils, Mrs. C has 4 more. How many pencils do they have altogether?' (This question varies depending on ability). Below is a picture of how we solved it. We are going to continue working on problem solving and we are going to start looking at making 5, 10 and 20. We have looked at this in the past, however, we are going to go in depth with this in the next couple of weeks. They are Math Whizzes, so I can only imagine where they going to take us next.

We had so much fun with leprechauns before March break. You have some very imaginative kids. They were seeing leprechauns everywhere, they made some pretty incredible traps. Unfortunately, we did not catch any, however, they did leave us some coins.
Next week is Holy Week. Our focus is on the story of Jesus. We will be attending a presentation of the Station of the Cross on Thursday. It will be geared towards primary students, there will be a separate one for Junior students.
Just a reminder that the weather is constantly changing. Please send you child to school with snow pants each day, or at the very least splash pants. They still need hats and mitts. We are outside for 40 mins in the morning and then again in the afternoon.
Please check out all our lost and found items, send us a note if you own any of them.
Hope you all had a wonderful March Break.
